Mountains Fall Asunder

WORK IN PROGRESS
2020 – PRESENT

“What are you doing Earth, in Heaven?
Tell me, what are you doing Silent Earth?”
— Giuseppe Ungaretti

I climb the nearest mountain peak and look far. A labyrinth of timelines appears, crossing and intersecting, reversing, continuously starting and stopping, but all flowing in the same direction. I mumble an incantation and head back down the mountain, into the maze.

Driving out toward the infinite light of the horizon, I find myself in a town collapsed into slumber, slowly dissolving. Amidst the rubble, paradigms that wrested this place into existence lie fallow. The cyclical turning of time tills this matter back into the void from which it came.

In this world, the temporal veils of progress and modernity are falling apart and the eternal ground from which everything arises is seeping through. In these brief glimpses, the self evaporates into the landscape and the landscape into eternity.
